I was walking in the very old cemetery this evening just seeing what the Historical Society here had done to restore it to some sort of repair when I look down...
Yes they are and no I didn't. Can you say almost overwhelming temptation? What would YOU have done; it's a secluded area, no one was around, it was getting dark...no one would have known......
Can anyone kinda identify what kind of bone it might be (femur? Tibia? Funny?)

the temptation would have been almost too much, but you did the right thing, and i would have done the same.
are you going to notify anyone?
I have a feeling that they know already because that was one of the graves that was cleaned up. Someone must have found the bones and put them on top of the nearest grave. I doubt they belong to the grave they were on because it was mostly intact. There are supposedly more than 800 people buried here in this 3/4 acre cemetery so this bone could belong to anyone.
naah, not only would it have been the wrong thing to do (despite the person they belong to not missing them anyway), I'd have worried about their presence in/around my house. I mean you never really know, do you?
Humerus maybe judging by the length compared to the bricks. I would have left it alone too, I wouldn't want one of my wayward bones taken as a souvenir? Thats pretty crazy that after they have started cleaning the place up that bones are still floating around and haven't been collected.
Actually Pam, that was foremost on my mind; would I bring home something more than a couple of pieces of bone?
Dealt with a cat ghost and the ghosts of the former owners of the house, don't think I want to invite anyone that I don't know in inadvertently!
I would have done the same. Because it's the right thing to do and also just in case something else would have followed the bone to my house. I have dealt with strange phenomenosm in the past and don't want to deal with these things unless my life depends on it.
I honestly had the same dilemma. I was whistling though the graveyard and when I looked down there was a bone laying amongst the fallen October leaves. We had had heavy rains for 2 or 3 days. I did bring it home, to which my brother commented, "Don't you go bringing any bad juju into our house", in a half-kidding tone. I thought about that for a second or two. Then I RAN out of the house, bone in hand to return it where I found the thing. As I put(flung) it on the ground I said Sorry to whoever may be listening. I can create my own nightmares and don't need any extra help.
