I was thinking back a bit about 2009 and all in all, it was a dang weird year and I'm glad it's just about over. Maybe this year was the year everything was a bit crappy to lay the groundwork for 2010 being great. I wondered why money was a bit tight this year and my business was off by about 45% and I was down about 9000.00 overall from last year. That was a bit scary but we made it OK. I missed Hallowe'en this year, it just didn't happen which I don't know if I regret it or not, I don't see how I could have done much anything differently.
On the upside, I have met some wonderful people out in Blogland, some that I have the honor to call friends. I have read their blogs and learned of their ups and downs and gained insight to my own life through their experiences and that has been richly rewarding. One blogger inadvertently has made my relationship with Mrs. Macabre a whole lot better by allowing me to understand and accept that differences in two people that love each other is just fine (thanks Peter!).
As 2009 draws to a close, I think that I will remember this as being a more difficult year but one that can be looked back on to say we got through it.
Now it's 3:05 and I'm finally cooled down and am going to saunter back to bed...
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good
Mr. Macabre

And I'm here reading your entry this hour of the morning because I'm working!
DD and I were talking the other day about how we were ready for 2009 to be over. It's been a health-challenged year for some of our family, but things are on the upswing. The one positive effect is that we are not taking as much for granted. Our gratitude level is higher.
You know, I haven't met one person that actually liked this year, it's been a challenging one to say the least and yes, you're absolutely right, the gratitude level for what we have is higher. May your 2010 be full of peace, happiness and prosperity for you and your family.
Funny you mention the heat....My cat has found that the absolute best place to sleep is on top of my legs, creating what I call "the Femural/ Feline Furnace". I frequently wake up roasting to death and have to pry her off the tops of my legs. It has made for some interesting dreams, to say the least.
Merry Christmas Mr. Macabre. 2010 has GOT to be a better year!
Hi! Maybe you were having "sympathy thoughts" as I was up cooking at 2:ooam! I went to bed shortly thereafter though. I'm ready for 2009 to be over, yet I kind of worried about what 2010 will bring with budget changes and so forth. My husband is a disabled Vet, and with all of the changes they're trying to put through on Social Security, Medicare and the like, I'm wondering what they're gonna come up with to short change the Vets too. So yea, I'm a bit worried. It wouldn't be so bad if the standard of living matched the income, but it doesn't and I'm afraid it will get worse. OK, now that I have that off my chest, I better back up and just remember who's in control. I'm always telling people "whatever happens just remember, God's In Control, roll with the puches. He didn't say he would "get us out of trouble, He says He will be with us through it. OK, now I feel better. Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year to you and your family.
PJ
hope you got some sleep. hope you have a Merry merry and a 1,ooo times better 2010!
this year was a drag, agreed. brighter and better for all i hope.
Do you happen to take a niacin supplement? It can apparently cause hot flashes. My husband was taking a supplement for a while and finally stopped because it was so uncomfortable.
I agree; 2009 could have been a tad better. But there's always next year....
Couldn't agree more . I'll be glad to see the end of 2009 as well. Hopefully 2010 will be an improvement. I've been waking up roasting in the middle of the night too. But that's because I'm spending the holidays with my in-laws and they keep the temperature in their house somewhere near 90! All the time <:O
Merry Christmas!
Thanks, Mr. Macabre! I appreciate your confirmation.
Yeah, ups and downs, both in relationships and in the past year - and usually a combination of both. Here's looking forward to the upswings of 2010~
Here is to 2010! May we all fare better in the new year! Take care.
Cheers!
