Nooooooo! Betrayed! I've been betrayed! Martha Stewart Living Halloween Handbook Review

Why Martha, whyyyyyyyyyyy?  Did I not buy your cookbooks?  Did I not subscribe to your magazine for years?  Did I not take the blame when your recipes didn't turn out?  I so tried to be a good disciple but to buy this for 9.99 at the checkout counter and then find out there's NOTHING new in it hurts me Martha, it hurts me to the core:
It's all old stuff folks, the only new thing is Martha's makeup on the cover, in which she looks like a drag queen.  I'm serious, this book is a big ol' reprint of the last couple of Martha Stewart Halloweens, maybe one or two new things but otherwise, same sets, different angles.

I are so heartbroken, excuse me, Ben and Jerry is calling my name from the deep freeze for some consolation therapy.

At least this year she at least hinted to the fact there was nothing new by calling it a special collector's addition.

*makes face*

Figures.

Awwww what a bummer! :(

I looked through it today, but decided not to buy it cuz it looked like the same ol' stuff that's in her Halloween book.

Glad I decided not to buy it!

I grabbed a copy as soon as I saw one on the shelf. And then I quickly flipped through it. And then I put it back on the shelf.

Enjoy that ice cream. You deserve it ;)

I, too, feel betrayed! I forked out the moola to purchase the book. Only to feel quite betrayed once I got home and cracked it open.....

I should have glanced through it while at the store... Taken note of the "Special Collectors Edition" words on the cover... Should've waited for Mr. Macabre's review...

{{sigh}}

Want some more ice cream before I eat it all??

Thanks for the tip. We buy the Halloween and October issues every year. We’ll skip the special Halloween issue this time.

I bought it. Hadn't read your post yet. What a total letdown. I am so disappointed. Where's my ice cream?

I grabbed it off the magazine cart at Hastings spent $9.99 THEN sat in my car and debated if I should return it! It is a good reference of her past magazines (That I also have) Stupid ME...I'll look next time before buying!

Adding the chorus of me too. My faith in Martha was so strong I didn't open it until I got home. So disappointing.

I completely agree!!! I'm sad/glad to see that I'm not alone in my disappointment. Ice cream alone won't appease such betrayal... bring on the candy corn!!!

I completely agree!!! I'm sad/glad I wasn't alone in my disappointment. I actually bought it on my lunch break and did not open it for SIX hours, until I was home and curled up on my favorite reading chair. The anticipation was almost too much to bare. I felt like Sebastian about to open The Never Ending Story. I opened the first few pages and what do I find? Porch webs and window silhouettes. Martha hurt me, she hurt me bad...

Whoa guys! Don't you look at the magazines before you buy? How about even reading the cover? It say's "The Best Of Martha Sewart". That should be a clue that this is not all new material.

Now, granted, it doesn't say, in big bold letters "And for all of you who have bought all my magazines, don't bother buying this edition" But come on... assume some responsibility here.

I admit, I saw this on the shelf and though "Ooo! the new October issue of Living is out." But then I did 2 things. First I looked closely at the cover. Second, I opened the cover and scanned the contents. And then I said "Oh ,this is just a collection... hmmm I'll wait for the actual October issue of living tocome out".

See how that works?
